Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, take tests and quizzes, you opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We do not share data with third parties. We have disabled tracking for all major search engines and do not store your ip address (in our statistics program all ip’s are replaced with blanks).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Deleting your data means we will have to revoke your certificates and diplomas.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Your personal data will not be provided to third parties without your explicit permission, provided this is necessary to perform a relevant agreement, to provide a specific service or when required by law.

Security and data protection

We use careful security procedures for the protection of the processed data to prevent unauthorized persons from (unintentionally) gaining access to this data. We protect your data by all means possible, but due to the public nature of the internet, we cannot always guarantee 100% security of the transmission of information via the internet.

Security measures used include:

– SSL connection to the website;
– login verification on servers, access via secure connection (SSL).

Security measures our webhosting company and sponsor, Brinkman.IT, has taken:

– no ‘root’ access via the internet;
– no ssh access for clients and third parties;
– Firewall on all servers;
– Use of Malware and Virus Scanners.

Payment data exchange

We use Mollie, Targetpay and/or PayPal to process online payments. The payment processor handles payment to us. The data they receive for the purpose of processing the payment is processed on the basis of its own responsibility. The pay,emt processors are therefore not a processor (of our data), but an independent controller as referred to in the General Data Protection Regulation. We therefore do not provide any data from our system to them for payment and vice-versa.

Copyrigths

Images on this website are from the public domain, made by ourselves, legally purchased or obtained via Pixabay (free stock photos). All rights reserved by the original creators, not exclusively licensed to Pixabay.

Our courses are based on a compilation of freely available and public domain materials (our “textbooks”) as well as original materials. We have mirrored most of the files and resources (needed for the core of our program) that we have found offered by their creators as free downloads (under public domain or Creative Commons licenses) on several websites.

All materials here are mirrored for nonprofit educational purposes. The “fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.” (US Copyright Office) and the Dutch citation rights also applies to some of the material offered here.

We carefully selected only those resources that were offered as free downloads or are in the Public Domain. However, if you are the publisher of one of the resources and feel that we should not mirror your resources here, please contact us and we will remove the mirror and link directly to your site instead.
